3 MOUNTAINS
山
( Earth | Human | Cosmos )
Jiangxi Province. China
2022
The “3 Mountains” project is an interdisciplinary research project blending architecture, sculpture, and performance art to investigate how humans inhabit and internalize space, using the rural landscape of Jiangxi, China, as both site and subject. During a two-month Lucitopia Residency, studied rural vernacular design, traditional crafts, and sustainable local materials. The 3 mountains represents the natural surroundings and the coexistence between the village and nature, “The subtitle “(Earth | Human | Cosmos)” reinforces this tripartite structure, framing as an interconnected cosmological model. In this way, “3 Mountains” linked local materials, community, and landscape while serving as both the residency’s method and its organizing idea.
The residency was fully funded by the Lucitopia programme, a C-Platform initiative, and supported academically by Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University’s School of Design.
